Primula Plants
Fairy Garden

About the Picture In this picture you can see what the Primulas look like planted in a container.
These are Primula malacoides or fairy primrose.
There are a few plants in the picture. Each plant has more than one flowering stem. They are growing in a clump and it's not easy to identify the different plants in this picture.
You can see the flowers in all their stages...
- from one or two buds opening in a flower-ring (right most flower stem... top flower-ring),
- flower-rings in full bloom (all over), and
- even a pod-ring (read on to find the pod-ring location).
What is a pod-ring? It is a ring of fruit of the soon-to-be seedpods. (Did I make the name pod-ring up? Yes I did. I have never seen the name before. However, the name seems appropriate.)
Where can you see a pod-ring? Look at the picture... the pod-ring is the lowest ring-of-stems on the tallest flowering stem... it's in the middle to the left of the picture.
It's a ring of star-shapes.
The more I describe it, the more I realize I have to take a close-up picture to show you what I am talking about.
...So I did, and here it is...
