Picture of a Canna Lily

This picture of a Canna lily is called "Softly Luminous". It is a picture of an orange Canna lily flower in my garden.

"Softly Luminous..."

About the picture:
Canna lily picture - it is a picture of the first Canna lily flowers on a new flowering stem. To the left of the stem is the bud of the next flower. The "current" flowers will be past their "best before date" once the new flower opens.

Background
The green background is made up of plants and lawn that are thrown out of focus. The soft green lines are not "competing" with the image of the flower.

My Canna Lily History
I was not crazy about Canna plants as a child. There were two reasons... no three reasons.

Our Canna plants were very popular with the snails. And, snails just don't give me a warm and fuzzy feeling!

The second reason why I was not too fond of Canna lilies was that the plants looked tattered due to the snail feasting... not exactly pretty.

There was a third reason why I didn't like Canna plants. The dark colored foliage just didn't fit my childhood idea of lush foliage. My idea was definitely that leaves should be green. The dark colors were probably my idea of leaves from a horror movie.

I have come a long way since my childhood. I have learned to like and appreciate Canna plants. They make a colorful display and are very hardy.
