Petunia Flower Picture Page
There are pictures of a variety of flower colors on this Petunia flower picture page.
Family of the Tobacco Plant
I would have guessed that the Petunia plant has a name inspired by the trumpet-shaped petals. No, that is not the case. The name comes from the French word "petun" meaning tobacco. The Petunia is actually botanically related to the tobacco plant.
"Trumpet Parade..."
About the Petunia Flower Pictures:
I bought a seedling tray with various colors. These are photos of some of the new seedling plants. Isn't the variety in the blooms just amazing? These are only a few examples, and the blooms have already so many different color combinations. I find it interesting that the reproductive organs also differ in color. The red flower has green and yellow colored reproductive organs. And, the burgundy flower has violet colored reproductive organs.
I also bought a seed packet... the Petunia seeds are tiny. I will add more pictures of these plants when they start flowering! It will take a while. But, subscribe to my blog in the meantime to keep up to date with the latest changes on the web site.
