Iceland or Icelandic Poppy Pictures
Papaver nudicaule
"Salmon Poppy..."

About the Picture:
I called this Icelandic poppy "Salmon Poppy" because the poppy's petals are a salmon color.
"Pink Poppy with Visitors 1..."

About the Picture:
This pink Icelandic poppy has two busy bees in it. Bees are often responsible for pollinating flowers while collecting pollen or nectar.
All the pictures on this page were taken in a neighbor's garden. Every time I drove past, I thought that I have to take a picture of those poppies. The garden is a few houses up the street. You could see the lovely poppy garden on the side of the drive way to the house. It made a lovely picture with the dark colored wall as a background.
The day I eventually got round to take some pictures, was not the best of "picture-taking-days". There was a bit of a breeze. And, poppies love to dance in the breeze. It is actually quite charming, even mesmerizing. That is, if you are not trying to take some pictures.
The breeze was unpredictable. The salmon poppy picture was taken with available light. The pink poppy pictures were taken with a flash. I prefer the available light picture.
To get a picture of the pink flower with the breeze blowing, I had to use the flash. It was the hard light picture or no picture of the pink poppies at all. If this was in my own garden I would have used my patience or the next day. But, it was the end of the poppy flowering season. I was on the sidewalk and I was attracting too much attention.
"Pink Poppy with Visitors 2..."

About the Picture:
I could have called this picture "Pink Poppy with a Visitor". But, if you look really closely you can see the body of the second bee. This picture is of the same poppy as the one above.
