Hydrangea Flowers

Hydrangea flowers are great cut flowers.

"Water Vessel"...

About the picture: The flower is from my garden, but read the story to really appreciate the flower.

Background
The picture was taken in a home studio. The background is a sheet of craft foam. I chose this background purely for the color.

The Story behind the Picture

A while back... I was not happy with the number of Hydrangea pictures in my collection. I needed more and better pictures of Hydrangea flowers.

Lighting Problem

I tried taking pictures in the garden. But, the results were not good enough. The lighting was a problem.

Take the Flower to the Light

So, I had to cut a flower for the sake of taking a picture or two. I took a few photographs. The pictures were good. But, I was not quite happy with them. Then I forgot about the poor flower... She was in a vase and she was hidden behind a table.

Flowers Need Water!

A day or two later I discovered that poor Miss Hydrangea had no water... she ran dry and she was hanging like wet laundry. I added water to the vase. And, I cut the stem a bit shorter. After a while, I couldn't believe my eyes! She was back to being her old self. She really looked like she was fresh from the mother plant that morning!

My Favorite Wallpaper

I really like the picture I took that same day. It is one of my favorite wallpapers! And, I'd like to share it with you! Click here to go to the Hydrangea wallpaper page.

One More Thing

I have to add one more piece to the story. Miss Hydrangea went on to look pretty for another week... unbelievable.

Hydrangeas are resilient

So, now I know that Hydrangea flowers are resilient. That makes them extremely good cut flowers, even if you do accidentally forget to top the water up.
