Gerber DaisiesThe Daisy PartyThis is a cheerful and fun grouping of gerber daisies. I am always amazed at the vibrancy you get out of gerber (or Gerbera) color combinations. I call this picture The Daisy Party There is one large red flower, many pink ones and a snippet of a yellow bloom. These ladies are all showing off on a super fresh green background.  This picture of gerber daisies is one of my favorites. I never planned to put the red and pink together, but I love it. How It Came About What really happened was that I went to the flower market, where there are about 30 stores selling flowers to mostly florists. Anybody from the public is also welcome. I am not a florist, and obviously fall in the anyone-from-the-public category. Although I fall in this category I often feel I have to explain to the sales people why I look at a bunch of flowers so intensely and why I sometimes reject seemingly good flowers. I normally tell the sales assistants that I use the flowers for photography and that I take pictures up close, really close. I also add that taking pictures that close to the flowers is like looking at the flowers with a magnifying glass. They rarely care for my explanation and often just loose interest in me as an easy sale. That day I came back with about 20 gerber daisies. I hand picked them, because I can buy these daisies as singles. I bought two red daisies, many pinks, two yellow, two creams and a white. I had these lovely long stem ladies in a large glass vase before I started photographing them the next morning. The combination of colors was exciting. Before I continued taking my planned pictures, I took a few spontaneous and fun pictures of the Gerberas as they were "stored" in the vase. This picture is one of those pictures. I really like this one. I hope you like it too. Using the Image A fun part of making products out of this picture was deciding what the messages are that will go with it.
