English Daisy

"Tiny Tubes..."

English Daisy

© flower-pictures-online.com

About the Picture

This picture is of an English daisy... up close and personal. You can see the yellow center, but the focus is on the sweet pink petals. When you see these daisies, you don't always notice that the petals are tiny tubes. In this picture you can almost see into the tubes. Well, you can, but the holes are just too small to really see.

Most Interesting
It has to be the tubular petals. The daisy starts its life with about two or three layers of petals, with a big yellow center. Then, as the flower matures, more and more layers of petals appear and the yellow center becomes smaller and smaller.

  • Also known as: Bellis perennis

  • Family: Asteraceae

  • Origin: Western, Central and Northern Europe
