Daylily Pictures
These daylily pictures are called "First Edition" and "Spicy". Yip, they are from our garden and there is a story behind them!
"First Edition"...

About the Picture:
This orange daylily picture is called "First Edition". I was waiting for the daylilies to bloom this summer. I wanted to take some pictures. But, the departure day for my vacation was around the corner. The first daylily was still not open, the day before I left.
The first flower opened on the day I was leaving. I was in such a rush to get ready to leave. I did not have the time or peace of mind to go and take a photograph. But... just as everybody was ready to leave, we had a delay. That was when I managed to go in the garden and get the picture of this fresh daylily. As you can see, it is still in the process of opening.
Meaning of the Name
The daylily is not a true lily. The genus name is Hemerocallis. The word Hemerocallis is based on two Greek words meaning "day" and "beauty".
Only a Day
The daylily's blooms last for only a day. So they really are beautiful for just a day. But, the upside is that there are always more flowers to follow.
"Spicy"...

About the Picture:
This daylily picture is called "Spicy". No, I did not try to eat it! I think the color of the flower is a spicy color... warm and intense.
This picture was taken after my vacation. The flowering period of these plants were much longer than what I anticipated. It lasted for as long as six weeks in mid-summer... with a new flower opening regularly.
Flower Colors
I found out recently that the daylily comes in a wide variety of colors. It is just a blue flower color that is not currently available. (I also have not seen black and green flowers!)
